What barrel length are you running on your DD and why?

I feel like this is a more interesting conversation than it usually gets. The 16-inch is the default answer for legal simplicity and ballistics, the 14.5 with a pinned comp is a popular middle ground. The 10.3 is maximum cool, minimum practicality for most people. I'm running a 14.5 on my V7 because it was the configuration I found used and it's honestly been perfect...I barely notice the difference from 16 except at the very edge of velocity data. What are you running and what was the actual reason you chose it, not the post-hoc justification?

I went 14.5 as well, mainly for the balance between handling and keeping velocity loss minimal. The pinned setup keeps it simple enough legally, and it still feels noticeably handier than a full 16 without getting into the tradeoffs you start seeing on the shorter guns.

I went with a 14.5-inch mainly because it felt like the sweet spot. The real reason wasn't velocity charts, it just handled better for me while still feeling like a full-size rifle.

Running 16 inch because I found the rifle used at a price that made the barrel length decision for me. Post hoc justification is that I hunt with it and velocity at distance actually matters there.
