Is the DD MK18 practical outside??

This is an honest question from someone who wants one purely because it looks incredible. The 10.3-inch barrel is very short, I know it's practical for CQB and vehicle work, but for a civilian who mostly shoots at a range and occasionally uses it for HD, is there a real functional argument for the MK18 ? I just want to understand what I'm actually trading when I go from a 16-inch to 10.3 and whether any of that matters for how I'd actually use it.

For most civilians the MK18 is more about handling and compactness than pure performance. You give up velocity and some range but inside normal defensive distances it still does the job really well.

Shooting the MK18 indoors feels incredible but outside next to a 16-inch BCM, the difference in concussion is immediate. Still, it’s cool and sometimes cool is what really matters.

My MK18 is great indoors and around vehicles but once you get past 200 yards outside, you feel what the shorter barrel gives up.
