I'm new to the AR world and now hitting a wall. I can't get the muzzle device off my Daniel Defense DDM4V7.
I really want to DIY this instead of paying a gunsmith, but this thing is on there tight. Is there a trick to Daniel Defense builds? Do I need to hit it with some heat, or is it just a matter of more leverage?

Any tips on how to break it loose without marring the barrel would be awesome!

DD usually cranks those on pretty tight, so nope.. not crazy. Make sure the upper is locked into a vise with a proper reaction rod or vise block first—thats key. Then use a solid armorer's wrench and give it steady pressure with a longer handle for leverage instead of trying to jerk it loose. If it still wont move, a little heat from a heat gun should help loosen any thread locker. Don't torch it,, just warm it up and try again. Once it breaks free, it'll spin right off

To swap a muzzle device on your DD, you really just need a bench vise, an upper receiver rod (like a Midwest Industries URR or a Geissele Reaction Rod), and an armorer’s wrench.
If you're in a pinch, a large adjustable crescent wrench works for the flash hider flats. just wrap the device in some electrical tape or a cloth first to avoid marring the finish.

Check out this Brownells video for a solid step by step

If you have a vise, an armorer's tool, and something to hold the upper, you have what is needed to swap out a muzzle device.
You also could also use an adjustable wrench to get the flash hider off
