Rattle can paint for Daniel Defense

My granddad just gave me his Daniel Defense DDM4V7P, and I’m considering a rattle can paint job. I like the look when it's done right, but I’ve never actually tried it, and I’m a little nervous about messing up such a nice rifle.
Has anyone here sprayed their Daniel Defense? I’m looking for any tips or maybe your experience before I commit. Am I crazy for wanting to paint it, or should I just go for it?

Heck of a hand me down, nice! . Not at all... lots of folks rattle can their Daniel Defense rifles and they turn out great.

It’s your rifle, paint it if you want, just practice first so granddad’s gift doesn’t become a regret

It’s only scary the first pass, then it’s addicting. Worst case, repaint. Best case, you never want factory finishes again.
